Could Jake Taylor be the latest Nottingham Forest starlet to leave the Championship for League Two Port Vale? John Askey hopes so.
Port Vale manager John Askey has admitted to the Stoke Sentinel that he is interested in signing young midfielder Jake Taylor from Nottingham Forest.
The Valiants have a habit of doing business with the two-time European champions. Adam Crookes and Toby Edser have all spent time on loan at Vale Park from Forest and it seems that Taylor could be about to follow in their footsteps.
The academy starlet spent time training with the League Two outfit earlier in the summer before returning to Nottingham and continuing to be a key player at Under 23 level.
And if Askey gets his wish, Taylor will be back at Port Vale for a longer spell very soon.
“Jake Taylor has been and trained with us, so we know all about Jake, and we have played against him and obviously we’ve got good contacts with Forest,” Askey said.
Nottingham Forest have one of the most prosperous academies in English football with Patrick Bamford, Jamal Lascelles and Karl Darlow all rising through the ranks at the City Ground.
Arvin Appiah, Brennan Johnson and Jayden Richardson are all expected to have a big part to play in the coming years too and Taylor will be hoping to force his way into Sabri Lamouchi’s long-term plans with some impressive displays in the fourth tier.
