Scottish Premiership giants Rangers snatched goalkeeper Jak Alnwick from Port Vale a year ago and now they are near the bottom of League Two.

If you offered Port Vale fans the chance to bring back Jak Alnwick, you would not have an arm left, let alone a hand.
The highly-rated goalkeeper left Vale Park for his big break at Rangers in January 2017. And, 13 months on, supporters of the League Two club are still pining for their bearded shot-stopper, especially after a chastening 5-1 battering at Cheltenham Town in which Rob Lainton, the man currently between the sticks for the Valiants, endured an afternoon to forget.
As it stands, Port Vale are 19th in the fourth tier of English football, teetering just above relegation to non-league. In contrast, the Valiants were in League One when Alnwick joined Rangers for as little as £250,000, as reported by the Daily Record.

And it would not be overly dramatic to state that his exit kick-started Port Vale’s rapid tumble down the footballing pyramid.
But while Alnwick was a hero at Port Vale, he is barely getting a look in at Ibrox. The former Newcastle United prospect has been restricted to cup football since moving to Rangers, and was still omitted in favour of regular number one Wes Foderingham as Graeme Murty’s side smashed Ayr 6-1 in the Scottish Cup on Sunday afternoon.

And if Alnwick ever gets tired of sitting on the Rangers bench, he will be more than welcome back at Vale Park.
