£3million Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson was linked with moves to Premier League duo Burnley and West Ham United last summer.

Pontus Jansson has admitted that he turned down the chance to walk away from Leeds United last summer in an interview with FourFourTwo.
The giant Swedish centre-back has established himself as a real fan favourite over the last three seasons with his commanding displays, clear love for the club and apparent ability to head a brick whichever way he desires earning him genuine cult hero status.
And Jansson’s popularity at Elland Road will only be enhanced further with the former Torino and Malmo defender opening up about the offers he received from elsewhere a year ago.
“I had an offer to leave in the summer, and I said to my agent, ‘I don’t want to leave Leeds in this way’.
“I didn’t want people to remember me for negative things, thinking, ‘This guy didn’t care about the club’,” said Jansson, who joined Leeds in a £3 million deal (Yorkshire Evening Post).

The Sun (April 22, page 7) reported last year that Burnley and West Ham were keen to offer Jansson a chance to prove himself in the Premier League.
Clearly, the Sweden international was not going to walk away after Leeds finished in a disappointing 13th place at the end of the 2017/18 season.
Jansson has since been rewarded with a starring role in one of the most memorable seasons in Leeds’ recent history and promotion to the Premier League is still on the cards with the play-offs looming large.
