Jason Holt could reportedly leave Steven Gerrard’s Rangers for St Johnstone.

With just over a week remaining before the transfer window slams shut, St Johnstone are running out of time if they want to bring a new striker to McDiarmid Park.
So Jason Holt is hardly the signing Saints fans were dreaming of.
According to the Scottish Sun, St Johnstone are interested in signing the seldom-seen 26-year-old on loan from Rangers with manager Tommy Wright confident that Holt could bring some much-needed experience to a side who have picked up just one point from their first two games so far.

But the fact that Holt is a midfielder rather than a natural-born goal-scorer has not gone unnoticed.
After all, it is difficult to see where the goals are going to come from at St Johnstone. Chris Kane, Michael O’Halloran, David McMillan, Callum Hendry and Matty Kennedy scored just 14 between them in the league last season.
While Holt would offer energy and a tough-tackling approach in the centre of the park, he is hardly going to fire the Perth side up the table. His average of a goal every eight games is not prolific in anyone’s book.
