Pierre-Michel Lasogga’s reported price-tag makes Leeds United decision easier

If Championship giants Leeds United want to keep Hamburg loanee Pierre-Michel Lasogga at Elland Road, they won’t have to pay much at all.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga is nearing the end of his loan spell at Leeds United and it seems that the supporters are still divided by the prospect of the Hamburg striker remaining at Elland Road on a permanent basis.

Lasogga has scored a respectable 10 goals in 19 Championship starts this season but, in truth, has lacked the consistency required to make him a real fans’ favourite.

Some supporters have been left frustrated by a series of anonymous performances while his work-rate and link play has left a lot to be desired at times.

But with Bild reporting that cash-strapped Hamburg are desperate to sell as a first ever relegation from the Bundesliga looms large, the fact that Lasogga could be let go for £2.2 million could just have made Leeds’ decision a little easier.

For such a reduced fee, it is difficult to argue against Leeds keeping Lasogga in West Yorkshire, especially as the vast majority of the other strikers Leeds have been linked with in the last few months, see Nelson Oliveira or £8 million Jordan Hugill (below), would have cost far more.

£2.2 million for a striker who averages a goal every other start would be an excellent bargain and the sort of signing under-fire director of football Victor Orta must make if he is to win over supporters who have turned against him in their droves of late.
