Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce reportedly wanted to bring John Terry back to the Championship but he is heading to Russia with Spartak Moscow.

Steve Bruce’s hopes of bringing John Terry back to Villa Park appear to be hanging by a very thin thread.
Aston Villa are worryingly light on centre-backs after Terry, Chris Samba and Tommy Elphick all departed over the summer. Those defensive deficiencies were then exposed in brutal fashion by a 4-1 thrashing at Sheffield United before the international break.
According to the Sun, Bruce was hoping to bring 37-year-old Terry back on a short-term deal. But any chance of the former England skipper wearing claret and blue again look very slim now.
As reported by the Sun, Terry is instead heading to Russia to join Spartak Moscow in a £3 million-a-year deal. Spartak, who came third in the Premier League last season, are set to offer the veteran centre-back a one-year deal with an option of another season should he impress.
And, just to add credence to these reports, Gianluca di Marzio has posted official pictures of Terry arriving in Roma for what was expected to be a medical ahead of his move to Spartak.
Terry was accompanied by Marco Trabucci, an agent who works closely with the Moscow giant. So Bruce and Villa may well be forced to look elsewhere.
