Scott Allan shone on loan at Hibernian last season but could he secure a future for himself at Scottish Premiership giants Celtic?

As it stands, Scott Allan is still a Celtic player.

The midfielder was expected to be on his way out of Parkhead this summer after rediscovering his mojo during a fine loan spell at former club Hibernian, whose manager Neil Lennon has made no secret of this desire to keep hold of a player he previously described as ‘unplayable’.

The Scottish Sun even reported that Celtic could use Allan as a makeweight in a potential deal to bring his Hibs midfield partner John McGinn to Glasgow. But, with a deal for McGinn in doubt thanks to Derby County’s reported willingness to offer £3 million, it remains to be seen whether Allan will instead be given a clean slate at the reigning Scottish champions.

The early signs look good.

Because the 26-year-old former West Brom youngster has been included on Celtic’s pre-season tour and uploaded a photograph of himself en route to Austria via his official Instagram account.

If Allan impresses during the intense eight-day session in central Europe, could Brendan Rodgers be won over?

Allan is a gifted and intelligent play-maker and there have never been any doubts about his ability, rather his aptitude and fitness coming into question in some quarters.

But given Rodgers’ propensity for helping players turn their careers around, do not bet against Allan being a revelation in the green and white hoops next season.
