Scottish Premiership champions Celtic could do with welcoming back experienced centre-back Marvin Compper.

Celtic could really do with Marvin Compper back in action.
There were plenty of sceptics when Celtic decided to sign a 32-year-old defender who had barely played a minute of Bundesliga football for RB Leipzig in the January transfer window. And, unfortunately, Compper has not been given the opportunity to prove why Brendan Rodgers was so keen to bring him to Parkhead.
The former Germany international, who won his one and only cap in a 2-1 home defeat by England in 2009, has featured just once in Celtic colours; a 3-0 cup win against Morton back in March.
Five months later and he has not been seen since. Brendan Rodgers told the Daily Record back in July that Compper was struggling with an abductor problem and we can only assume that the same issue is still keeping him on the sidelines.
Fortunately, however, it seems that Compper is closing in on a return. He has been spotted training with the first-team and his recovery would be very well received, as reported by the Daily Record.
Celtic look increasingly fragile at the back and conceded another soft goal in their 1-1 Europa League qualifying draw with Lithuanian champions Suduva on Thursday night.
Compper would add some much needed composure and experience at a time where Celtic need those attributes more than ever.
