Ethan Ampadu has a habit of producing performances that bely just how young he really is.
He debuted for Exeter City aged 15, he shone for Wales aged 18 and, in Frank Lampard’s first ever game as Chelsea manager, the mop-haired teenager once again reminded everyone just what a spectacular talent he really is.
And this latest masterclass of a display is either very exciting for an Aston Villa side who want to sign Ampadu on loan, according to the Guardian, or a potential hammer blow to their hopes.
After all, why would Lampard, who has already made it clear that young talents will be central to his plans at Stamford Bridge, not want to include a player this good in his first-team plans?
Ampadu started off as a centre-half in his younger days but, thanks to his remarkable composure in possession, he has been moved forward into a deep-lying midfield role in recent months. That is where he started in Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Bohemians on Wednesday night.
And he certainly seized his chance to make an impression on The Blues’ new coaching staff with supporters flocking to Twitter in their droves to profess a star being born.
Aston Villa boss Dean Smith would love to get his teeth into Ampadu – but convincing Chelsea to part with him, even on a temporary basis, could be easier said than done.
