Peter Shilton’s former Nottingham Forest teammate Martin O’Neill has been chosen as the man to lead them back to the Premier League.

Martin O’Neill might be a legend at Nottingham Forest, a two-time European Cup winner who will always be remembered and revered for his role at the heart of Brian Clough’s all-conquering side.
But whether he is the man capable of guiding Forest to the Premier League this season is another issue entirely.
The 66-year-old has been officially confirmed as the club’s new manager on Tuesday, replacing Aitor Karanka at the City Ground. And some fans have been left underwhelmed considering O’Neill’s last two jobs, at Sunderland and the Republic of Ireland respectively, hardly proved to be a roaring success.
But, reacting on Twitter, legendary Forest goalkeeper Peter Shilton has thrown his backing behind his former team-mate, believing that he could bring glory back to the City Ground.
According to the Sun (15 January, page 53), Forest owner Evangelos Marinaks turned to O’Neill after being snubbed by Slavisa Jokanovic, who has no desire to return to the dugout just yet after being sacked by Fulham in November.
Jokanovic was the man many fans wanted, given that he lead Fulham to the top flight last season while playing arguably the most attacking and eye-catching football in the second tier.
But style is less important than results for a Nottingham Forest side desperate to end their 20 year exile from the Premier League.
