West Ham United are reportedly interested in bringing Denis Suarez back to the Premier League from La Liga giants Barcelona.

Denis Suarez might have expected to finally get his chance at Manchester City when Manuel Pellegrini took over in the summer of 2013.

The Chilean, after all, is a manager renowned for getting the best out of maverick creative talents with Juan Roman Riquelme, Joaquin and Santi Cazorla just three who thrived under his management.

But shortly after Pellegrini arrived, Suarez was gone. The diminutive midfielder was sold back to former club Barcelona without ever making a breakthrough at the Etihad despite Pellegrini’s desire to keep him, as reported by The Independent.

So reports in A Bola linking the 64-year-old’s new club, West Ham United, with a move for Suarez this summer is intriguing indeed. The Portuguese press believe that West Ham’s new sporting director Mario Husillos is interested in the 24-year-old Spaniard, who has a release clause of £44 million.

Since leaving Manchester City and returning to Catalonia five years ago, Suarez has never really managed to establish himself.

Despite a brilliant loan spell at Villarreal seemingly paving the way for a bright future at the Camp Nou, and earning Suarez the famous number six shirt vacated by Xavi, he has slipped down the pecking order and managed just four La Liga starts in 2017/18.

The chance to reunite with Pellegrini, who was very frustrated to be denied the chance to work with Suarez in 2013, should therefore be seen as an excellent opportunity.
