Joe Dodoo has not featured for Rangers this season and his future remains up in the air.

You could forgive Joe Dodoo for not being too thrilled about the superb start to life at Ibrox enjoyed by new Rangers signing Alfredo Morelos.

The Colombian, who arrived in Glasgow from HJK Helsinki for £1 million according to the Daily Record, already has three goals in four domestic games for Rangers, including two in the 6-0 league cup thumping of Dunfermline.

Consequently, his fine form has pushed Dodoo, a bit-part player since joining from Leicester City last summer, further down the pecking order at Ibrox.

The 22-year-old struggled with injuries over the summer, during which time Morelos was joined in Scotland by Mexican international centre-forward Eduardo Herrera, and he is yet to feature in Pedro Caixinha’s team so far this season.

However, despite previously hinting that Rangers would listen to offers for Dodoo, Caixinha has now insisted that the striker still has a chance to force his way back into the manager’s first-team plans.

Make or break

“Joe is still training with the group,” Caixinha told the Daily Record. “He still has a chance here but it’s more up to him than me.

“I don’t have a final decision yet because the market is still open. I don’t want to be overloaded with players who might not be an option for us.”

This should still be seen as a warning for Dodoo, who netted a hat-trick on his senior debut for Leicester in the EFL Cup but netted only five times in 25 games for Rangers last season.

After all, Caixinha has demonstrated that he is not afraid to banish a player from his squad due to a perceived lack of ability or problems with his attitude.

Some of Rangers’ most talented players, including Barrie McKay, have suffered Caixinha’s wrath so forgotten man Dodoo must seize this last chance with both hands.
