Celtic’s £1.3m winger Jonny Hayes could reportedly return to Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen in the January transfer window.

It cannot be understated just how impressive Jonny Hayes was for Aberdeen in the 2016/17 season.
Not only did he score 11 goals in all competitions, the winger also provided a staggering 24 assists as Derek McInnes’ Dons finished runners-up behind Celtic in three competitions. The fact that he was the only non-Celtic player nominated for the SPFA Player of the Year award spoke volumes.
But things change quickly in football. And reports in The Express that Aberdeen want to bring Hayes back to Pittodrie this week have not been particularly well received by the fans that used to sing his name from the stands.

Hayes let to sign for Celtic in a £1.3 million deal 18 months ago (Express) but he has not made anywhere near the same sort of impact in green and white.
After a very slow start, Hayes suffered a broken leg in December 2017 and has found game time hard to come by ever since. In fact, he is more of a reserve left-back now than an influential, game-changing winger.
And, at the age of 31, it seems that Dons fans think he is past his brilliant best. They do say ‘never go back’.
