League One title-chasers Sunderland will travel to the Kassam Stadium to take on Oxford United on Saturday afternoon.

Oxford United manager Karl Robinson has pointed out that Sunderland are beatable as his side prepare to welcome the Black Cats to the Kassam Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Us have won just one of their last eight League One games and are set to take on a Sunderland side who have arguably the strongest squad in the division, containing proven, established players such as Lee Cattermole, Jon McLaughlin and Aiden McGeady.

Sunderland also signed Will Grigg on the final day of the transfer deadline day, a striker who has averaged over 20 goals a season in the third tier. The Northern Ireland international could make his debut at Oxford.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, Robinson has admitted that Jack Ross has some real talent at his disposal – but has backed his side to step up to the occasion.

“They’ve got some unbelievable players, but every team is beatable,” said the former Charlton and MK Dons boss. “They’re not invincible, previous results tell you that, so we’ve got to make sure we go into it positively and the players and fans stick together.

“That’s the most important thing, regardless of the ups and downs in the 90 minutes, the criticism or the plaudits can start afterwards.”

Sunderland are currently fourth in the table but they are just three points adrift of Barnsley in second and have two games in hand.

A fine start by Grigg, who will be tasked with replacing departed top scorer Josh Maja, would go a long way to achieving the dream of an immediate return to the Championship.
