Rangers, Sunderland, Stoke City, Fleetwood Town, Hull and Preston North End reportedly want to sign George Edmundson from League One Oldham Athletic.

You would think Oldham Athletic fans would be worried by the prospect of losing their prized asset this summer.
According to the Mail, George Edmundson has a whole host of clubs north and south of the border chasing his signature with Rangers, Sunderland, Stoke City, Preston North End, Hull City and Fleetwood Town all keen on the 21-year-old centre-back.
The report adds that Oldham would be willing to sell for around £450,000 with the Manchester-born Edmundson interested in trying his hand at a higher level than the third tier of English football.
But could the youngster follow in the footsteps of James Tarkowski, the Oldham academy graduate who rose through the ranks at Boundary Park before establishing himself in the Premier League with Burnley and forcing his way into the England national team?

Well, in the eyes of Oldham fans, labelling Edmundson as the ‘new Tarkowski’ would be rather fanciful. The fact that some supporters would happily accept a six-figure sum doesn’t reflect well on this promising young defender.
Maybe Rangers, Sunderland and co should be having second thoughts.
