Steven Gerrard is in a rush to bring new signings to Scottish Premiership giants Rangers – with Bolton Wanderers’ Mark Beevers reportedly on his list.

Considering that Rangers have attempted swoops for Millwall’s Jake Cooper, Blackpool’s Curtis Tilt and failed with a move for Manchester City youngster Kean Bryan, it is fair to assume that Mark Beevers is quite far down their wishlist.

The Daily Express reported a week ago that Rangers had turned to the 28-year-old Bolton Wanderers man after moves for their top targets failed to materialise.

And the reaction from Bolton Wanderers fans to latest reports claiming that the Championship club were hoping to hold onto Beevers perhaps acts a warning that Steven Gerrard should be looking elsewhere.

According to Bolton News, the Lancashire club are determined to keep Beevers at the Macron. This is despite the fact he has just a year on his contract and that Bolton are set to sign Jack Hobbs on a free.

Though if you ask most Trotters fans, they’d be willing to drive Beevers up to Glasgow themselves – and this alone shows why Rangers shouldn’t press ahead with their interest.

It has been a very positive summer so far for Rangers with Gerrard and director of football Mark Allen working in tandem to land most of their top targets, such as Ovie Ejaria, Allan McGregor and Scott Arfield.

Gerrard, however, told the BBC that he was in a rush for new signings before the 2018/19 season kicks off and ‘clearly’ needs a new centre-back. They cannot resort to panic buying, however, with the likes of Beevers simply not good enough.
