Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers obviously felt that one-time Manchester United talent Saidy Janko wasn’t good enough for the Scottish Premiership.

One year after being let go by Celtic, Saidy Janko could be about to receive the biggest break of his career so far.
At the age of 22, the Swiss right-back has already played for Manchester United and Celtic, arguably the most historic clubs in England and Scotland respectively, and could now be on his way to the champions of Portugal.
And to make the deal even more impressive, Janko will be tasked with replacing the influential Portuguese international Ricardo Pereira, who left Porto to join Leicester City in a £22 million deal earlier this summer.

So it’s fair to say Janko has come a long way since Celtic decided they were better off with Mikael Lustig and Cristian Gamboa just 12 months ago.
Janko was never really given an opportunity by Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead. He made just 10 Scottish Premiership appearances in the first half of the 2016/17 season and was loaned to Barnsley midway through the Northern Irishman’s debut campaign, though injuries restricted his impact down at Oakwell.

But while Liam Henderson is starring in Italy and Scott Allan looks back to his best on loan at Hibernian, could Janko end up being another promising talent who perhaps did not get the chance he deserved under Rodgers?
