Zak Rudden’s terrific form continued in the Scottish Championship – when will he get his chance under Steven Gerrard at Ibrox giants Rangers?

Rangers might have a real star on their hands in young Zak Rudden.

The 18-year-old striker might not be ready to compete for a place in Steven Gerrard’s first-team plans but he has certainly highlighted the potential in his locker during a loan spell at Championship side Falkirk.

Rudden scored twice in a 3-2 win away at Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the weekend, taking his tally to seven goals in just 11 games for the appropriately-named Bairns.

And, reacting on Twitter, Rudden’s Falkirk teammate Dennon Lewis has paid tribute to his lethal impact, while also lauding Scott Harrison for his winning goal.

The Express have claimed that Gerrard wants to bring a new striker to Ibrox in January with Umar Sadiq likely to see his loan spell from Roma brought to a premature end.

And with Rudden only on loan at Falkirk until the turn of the year, could the teenager be a left-field option to provide competition for Alfredo Morelos and Kyle Lafferty?

The reality is that Rudden would probably be better off extending his spell at Falkirk with the youngster clearly benefiting from regular first-team football in the Scottish second tier.
