Celtic recovered to snatch a 2-2 draw at home to Neil Lennon’s Hibs in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.
Celtic have dropped points twice in the Scottish Premiership this season, and it can’t be a coincidence that both occasions were after testing European trips.
Brendan Rodgers’ side were held to a 1-1 draw with St Johnstone after their qualifying second-leg defeat at Astana in Kazakhstan in August. And, just three days after beating Anderlecht 3-0 in Belgium in the group stages, newly promoted Hibernian earned a deserved 2-2 draw at Parkhead.
Celtic were indebted to Callum McGregor on Saturday afternoon, the increasingly influential midfielder scoring twice to cancel out a brace from another highly-rated young Scottish midfielder John McGinn.
And it’s difficult to disagree with the brisk conclusion made by Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham on Twitter after the game.
There are both positives and negatives that can be taken from such a display – Celtic did drop points at home to a side who were in the second tier last season, but a late rally capped by a late equaliser from McGregor, just three minutes after McGinn had put Hibs in front, demonstrates the character that Rodgers has instilled into the team over the last year.
Celtic supporters, however, weren’t slow to provide some (fairly) constructive feedback on Ntcham’s own performance.
