Scottish Premiership giants Rangers reportedly made a £4 million bid for Swansea City striker Oli McBurnie with Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard eyeing attackers.

Surely Rangers need no more encouragement now to make Oli McBurnie their top striking target.
The Scottish Premiership giants have been linked with the Swansea City striker for a number of weeks now. The Sun even claimed that Rangers had made a £4 million bid for McBurnie, who proved his credentials by netting nine times in 16 starts on loan for a relegated Barnsley side in the second half of last season.
And, after impressing in Scotland’s 1-0 friendly defeat to Mexico on Sunday, McBurnie has issued perhaps one of the most blatant ‘come-and-get-me’ pleas you’ll see all summer.

“Linked with Rangers every week? Tell me about it – and my tweeting probably doesn’t help,” the striker, who turned 22 on Monday, told the Daily Record.
“I am a Rangers fan and said recently that whatever happens I want Steven Gerrard to go there and do as well as he can. I want Rangers to get back to where they belong.
“I’ve always said, all my life, I would love to play for Rangers. Whether it’s now or not, it is what it is.”

In a further blow, McBurnie no longer appears to be the first-choice target for Leeds, his hometown club. The Yorkshire Evening Post states that Hull City’s out of contract talisman Abel Hernandez is now top of the Championship giants’ wish list – which could leave Rangers free to negotiate with Swansea.
It remains to be seen, however, what the South Wales club are planning for McBurnie. He has a year left on his contract and, considering how impressive he was at Barnsley, it would be no surprise if Swansea wanted him to lead their promotion bid next season.
