Nottingham Forest are reportedly closing in on another big signing with Monaco’s Ligue 1 starlet Gil Dias allegedly heading to the Championship.

It is all change for Nottingham Forest this summer.

The Championship club have already smashed their transfer record by landing Benfica midfielder Joao Carvalho on a £13 million deal, while his Estadio da Luz teammate Diogo Goncalves is also arriving, joining on loan with an option to buy for a fee that could be as high as £18 million.

Now, Jorge Mendes appears to be close to bringing another exciting youngster to the City Ground as he aims to replicate Wolves’ success at Nottingham Forest. According to the Telegraph, Gil Bastiao Dias is set to sign from Ligue 1 giants Monaco on loan with an option to buy.

21-year-old Dias, who spent last season on loan at Fiorentina, is another very intriguing Iberian addition. And the Telegraph adds that he has a market value of £17.5 million.

So what an upgrade he could be on the winger who is expected to leave the East Midlands in the coming days. According to the Sun, Barrie McKay’s Nottingham Forest career looks over after falling out of favour with Aitor Karanka.

Reading are interested while Olympiakos have held talks. And, while McKay is at best a decent Championship winger, he could be replaced with a £17.5 million-rated Portuguese U21 ace who has played football in the top flights of Italy and France.

If Dias is anything like the Portuguese youngsters Mendes brought to Wolves, he could make a massive impact.
