Championship outfit Nottingham Forest sent Jordan Smith to League Two Mansfield Town during the January transfer window.

Jordan Smith believes he has impressed since leaving Nottingham Forest to join Mansfield Town on loan, while speaking to the Stags’ official website.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper moved to the League Two club until the end of the season midway through the January transfer window and has made eight appearances so far, emerging victorious in half of those.

Smith has been on the losing side in Mansfield’s last two games, however, going down 1-0 to Newport and Notts County respectively. But the Forest academy graduate believes he has still made a positive impression as he looks to make a point to his parent club.

“I think that I’ve done really well. More frustratingly, I think my best two performances have come in the last two games, which we’ve lost 1-0,” Smith said.

“In terms of a personal level, I want to show what I can do, but on a team level, I want to help as much as I can.

“Ultimately, that starts with me, with the ball at my feet or at my hands. It’s a little bit of a weapon of mine, and something that the manager (David Flitcroft) encourages.”

Smith is under contract at Nottingham Forest until 2020 but it remains to be seen what the future holds for him at the City Ground.

He emerged as the club’s number one during Mark Warburton’s time in charge in the second half of the 2016/17 season, but has slipped down the pecking order since, with Costel Pantilimon and Luke Steele offering plenty of experience between the sticks.

Martin O’Neill will have a decision to make next summer.
