Lukas Skorupski could leave Serie A giants Roma with Crystal Palace offering him a Premier League chance – but Nottingham Forest are said to be keen too.

Lukasz Skorupski of Empoli FC celebrates victory at the end of the Serie A match between Torino FC and Empoli FC at Stadio Olimpico di Torino on January 10, 2016 in Turin, Italy.

Nottingham Forest’s long-running pursuit of a new number one has taken a surprising twist on transfer deadline day.

Per The Mail (live transfer blog, 9.56am), Nottingham Forest were closing in on a deal to bring in Watford’s giant Romanian Costel Pantilimon, but it appears that a new name has suddenly emerged.

Because Tuttomercatoweb claims that Aitor Karanka’s side have made a shock £4.5 million move to bring in Lukas Skorupski from Serie A giants Roma before the window closes.

The 26-year-old has featured only once for the Giallorossi this season, coming in December’s Coppa Italia defeat to Torino at the Stadio Olimpico. But don’t let that fool you.

Skorupski is a fine goalkeeper who was superb on loan at Empoli across the 2016/17 campaign. And the 26-year-old has only been left out of Roma’s starting XI due to the sensational form of Brazilian international Allison, who has emerged as one of the world’s most impressive goalkeepers over the last few months.

Lukasz Skorupski #28 of Roma stops a shot in the second half against Tottenham Hotspur during the International Champions Cup on July 25, 2017 at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, New Jersey.

Time will tell, however, whether Skorupski will be keen to swap Serie A for a side sitting mid-table in England’s second tier – although the one-time Poland international does need game time if he is to force his way into his nation’s World Cup squad.

Tuttomercatoweb claimed earlier this month that Crystal Palace were also keen on Skorupski. Though Forest fans are pretty excited about the prospect of beating The Eagles to the goalkeeper’s signature.
