Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest played out a remarkable 5-5 draw in the Championship on Wednesday night.

You’d have got long odds on Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest producing 10 goals between them on Wednesday night. But anyone who put a few quid on a 5-5 draw at Villa Park in midweek will be rolling in it today.
Because Villa and Forest have just produced quite probably the game of the season, and one of the greatest in the history of Championship football.
Tammy Abraham scored four for the home side but it still wasn’t enough as a Nottingham Forest side inspired by Lewis Grabban and boyhood Villa fan Joe Lolley fought back to secure a remarkable draw in the Second City.
And, speaking to the club’s official website after the game, Forest manager Aitor Karanka admitted that he had made plans to exploit the ‘weaknesses’ in Dean Smith’s side.
“I think it is the first time in my career that my team has conceded five goals but the character we showed to fight back was amazing,” the former Middlesbrough boss said.

“We knew Aston Villa had some weaknesses so we tried to exploit them as we went forwards.”
Smith has got Villa playing exciting attacking football again after some of the dire displays that characterised the end of Steve Bruce’s reign but the claret and blues have looked a little vulnerable at the back since the former Brentford boss took charge.
Only four sides have conceded more than Aston Villa (30) in the second tier this season.
