Jamie Ward is on loan at Charlton Athletic from Championship hopefuls Nottingham Forest.
It seems that Jamie Ward is enjoying his time at Charlton Athletic after growing disillusioned with life at Nottingham Forest.
The 2017/18 season was something of an annus horribilis for the Northern Ireland international. He featured just eight times for Forest in the first half of the campaign before finding himself out of favour during a loan spell at Cardiff City after the turn of the year.
Fortunately, however, dropping down to League One level has helped Ward get his career back on track. The 32-year-old made his fourth appearance for the Addicks in the 2-0 win against Barnsley on Saturday, setting up the first of Karlan Ahearne Grant’s two goals with a brilliant assist.
As it stands, Ward is only on loan at The Valley until January. But, speaking to London News Online, the hard-working forward has admitted he would jump at the chance to stay for longer.
“I’d enjoy staying until the end of the season and hopefully longer,” explained Ward. “It’s just nice to be wanted again.”
And it seems that Forest fans would be more than happy for Ward to leave on a permanent basis, while Charlton supporters would surely welcome his arrival with open arms.
Ward failed to feature in a single match-day squad for Forest before being offered an escape route in August. And he told London News Online that he endured a ‘horrifc’ time as a member of Aitor Karanka’s so-called ‘bomb squad’.
