Nottingham Forest’s Gil Dias and Diogo Goncalves were both on target as the Portugal U21s shone in a European Championship qualifier.

Nottingham Forest fans have only seen glimpses of quality from Gil Dias and Diogo Goncalves since they arrived at the City Ground this summer as part of the Jorge Mendes inspired Iberian invasion.
But the on-loan duo certainly gave Forest fans something to look forward to in an outstanding performance for Portugal’s U21s on Thursday night.
Portugal battered Lichtenstein 9-0 in a European Championship qualification blitz and Dias and Goncalves were both on target, the latter netting a brace to take his tally to eight goals in ten games for the U21s.

Goncalves, who arrived at Forest on a temporary deal from Benfica, was the star of the show, also setting up one of Heriberto Tavares’s four goals. Dias, meanwhile, made a major impact when he came on for Manchester United youngster Diogo Dalot in the final ten minutes.
No wonder Forest fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement.
Monaco-owned Dias has had his moments under Aitor Karanka, notably a sublime chipped finish against Newcastle in the EFL Cup, while Goncalves was sent off on his first Forest start against Stoke City.

But could this 9-0 win be a sign of things to come?
