Championship giants Nottingham Forest could welcome another Algerian to the City Ground in the shape of Dinamo Zagreb talisman El Arbi Hillel Soudani.

Nottingham Forest fans can be forgiven for feeling a little concerned as reports link another Algerian forward with a surprise switch to the City Ground.

After all, it is fair to say Rafik Djebbour and Djamel Abdoun did not quite set the world alight at the City Ground.

But there is something a little different about El Arbi Hillel Soudani. According to Algerian publication Le Beteur, Nottingham Forest have seen an opening bid rejected for the Dinamo Zagreb attacker.

But while few in the East Midlands will know this name off by heart, Soudani’s goal-scoring record over in Croatia suggests he could be worth a punt.

The 30-year-old, the sixth most prolific striker in Algeria’s history, won the 2017 Croatian league Player of the Year award. And he’s a decent bet to pick up the award again having scored a division best 11 goals in 15 games so far this season, firing Zagreb to the top of the table and 12 points clear of nearest challengers Hajduk Split.

And, according to Sportske Novosti, Soudani is dreaming of a move to England as the striker himself has suggested that he would jump at the chance to succeed where his Algerian predecessors failed at Forest.

For now, however, you will excuse Forest fans for being a little wary.
