Leicester City’s Andy King has admitted that he turned down Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window to join Championship rivals Derby County.

Andy King has admitted that he turned down a move to Nottingham Forest before joining their bitter rivals Derby County; not that the City Ground faithful appear to be losing too much sleep.
The 30-year-old was always likely to bring an end to his 13-year spell at Leicester City during the January transfer window, having fallen down the pecking order under Claude Puel and failing to make a Premier League appearance in the first half of the season.
It seemed that a number of Championship clubs were keen to hand a fresh start to a player who won the second-tier title in the 2013/14 season. But Derby won the race, signing King on loan until the end of the season with promotion in their sights.

Speaking to the Derbyshire Telegraph, the Wales international admitted that he could have joined East Midland neighbours Nottingham Forest instead – but chose The Rams over the two-time European Cup winners.
“As it stands, Derbyare in a better position, and maybe play a style of football which is maybe more suited to how I want to play,” King said.
“Forest is a great club, also, a massive club but the odds were probably just stacked in Derby’s favour the minute I knew they were interested.”
As Forest fans are at pains to point out, however, they are hardly short of central midfielders with Ben Watson, Jack Colback, Adlene Guedioura, Ben Osborn and Claudio Yacob all available. Don’t forget about young Ryan Yates either.
