Huddersfield Town are plotting a move for Norwich City playmaker James Maddison but, for that price, Championship rivals Wolves should snap him up.

Norwich City lost Alex Pritchard to Huddersfield Town in the January transfer window and will now have to fend off interest from the Terriers for the other part of their creative axis.

Per The Sun (18th March, page 60), Huddersfield are looking to raid Carrow Road once again, this time for the brilliant James Maddison. The 21-year-old has been one of the Championship’s standout performers this season with 13 goals and seven assists to his name.

Understandably, Norwich want a big fee for their talisman and would demand £15 million, around £1 million more than Huddersfield paid for Pritchard two months ago.

But that fee should have Wolves licking their lips.

Per The Express and Star, the Championship leaders have been collating targets since January who would be good enough for the Premier League with promotion looking inevitable, and Maddison was understood to be on their shortlist.

There does not appear to be any limit to Wolves’ ambition with the Midlands club recently linked with massive deals for Anderson Talisca and Andre Silva, who would both cost in excess of £20 million.

So a £15 million deal for Maddison would seemingly be well within budget. They paid £800,000 more than that to sign Porto playmaker Ruben Neves last summer after all.

Maddison has never played a single second in the top flight of English football but he has looked a cut above in the second tier so should not have too many worries about making that step up.
