Wolverhampton Wanderers were keen to bring Onel Hernandez to the Championship in August but Norwich City are now his most likely destination.

Onel Hernandez could be set to move to England, five months later than expected.

German newspaper Kicker stated in August that Wolverhampton Wanderers were interested in signing the Cuban-born winger, who had impressed the previous season for second tier side Eintracht Braunschweig.

Hernandez, a former Germany under-18 international, scored five times and set up another four as Braunschweig reached the relegation play-off, only to be consigned to another season in the 2.Bundesliga after losing 1-0 to local rivals Wolfsburg over two legs.

But the 24-year-old could belatedly be set for a move to the Championship this January, albeit not with Wolves.

The Sun states that Norwich City have made a £1.7 million offer for Hernandez, who is keen to try his hand in English football having spent the entirety of his professional career in Germany.

The Canaries are keen to replace Alex Pritchard, who left for Huddersfield in a £14 million deal, and have been impressed by Hernandez’ pace, creativity and eye-catching dribbling skills.

The winger, who is versatile enough to play in any position in the attack, has scored just once and set up another two this season which perhaps explains why Braunschweig appear willing to sell having refused to consider interest from Wolves just a few months ago.

Though with Nuno Espirito Santo able to pick from Ivan Caveleiro, Helder Costa and the brilliant Diego Jota in attack, it seems Hernandez would be more useful to Norwich.
