Leeds United’s seven-goal Championship striker Kemar Roofe is reportedly a target for Premier League trio Wolves, Crystal Palace and Southampton.

We are now a third of the way through the Championship season and Leeds United are still top of the table. But is the biggest challenge yet to come?

The January transfer window is now less than two months away and Marcelo Bielsa may be forced to contend with interest in a number of his key players.

The Mirror(4 November, page 66) has already reported that Kemar Roofe is a target for Wolves, Southampton and Crystal Palace with talks over a new contract having stalled. Roofe, who has scored seven goals in ten Championship games this season, has 18 months left on his current deal.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds (7 November, 9:00am), former Leeds striker Noel Whelan has expressed his belief that Roofe will not be the only Whites star in demand heading into January.

“I think there will be interest in pretty much every player that Leeds United have come January,” Whelan said. “That is the way we are playing, we all look good out there and we make everyone look good.”

In recent months, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Samu Saiz, Pontus Jansson and Luke Ayling (below) have all been linked with moves away from Elland Road. But it is absolutely essential that Leeds keep their squad together with a long-awaited return to the Premier League on the line.
