Romain Saiss might get his chance in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ next two Championship fixtures with Ruben Neves suspended.

As recently as November, Romain Saiss was being linked with a shock move to Premier League giants Liverpool by Moroccan publication Liberation.
These days, however, he cannot even buy a start in Wolves’ midfield. The 27-year-old has not appeared in the first XI since the shock 2-0 home defeat by Nottingham Forest over a month ago.
But with Ruben Neves, Wolves’ star man this season, suspended for two games after picking up his tenth booking of the campaign in the 2-2 draw with Norwich City on Wednesday night, Saiss might just have been handed an opportunity to force his way back into the starting XI.

Wolves will travel to Fulham on Saturday suddenly in need of a result. Their lead at the top of the table has been cut to nine and Slavisa Jokanovic’s side have been the best in the league over the last couple of weeks.
Neves will also miss the home clash with struggling Reading.

And manager Nuno Espirito Santo has a decision to make here. He could replace Neves with Saiss and go for a more conservative midfield with Alfred N’Diaye. Or he could put his faith in 18-year-old starlet Morgan Gibbs-White, a more expansive and technically gifted player who shone in the last 20 minutes against Norwich.
With Saiss out of favour right now, his future at Molineux would not look particularly promising if Gibbs-White was chosen to start ahead of him in Neves’ absence.
