Glasgow Rangers were reportedly keen to loan Rolando Aarons from Premier League Newcastle United.

The chance to swap Newcastle United for Rangers came and went for Rolando Aarons leading up to transfer deadline day last month.
With Jamie Murphy ruled out for the foreseeable future with a serious knee injury, Steven Gerrard’s side were rushing to bring in a new winger before the end of August. And, according to the Mirror, Newcastle’s forgotten man Aarons was one of the men on Rangers’ radar, with Magpies manager Rafa Benitez willing to loan him out.
But by the time September arrived, Eros Grezda had arrived in Glasgow instead.
For the second time this summer, Rangers raided NK Osijek – the Croatian side they beat en route to the Europa League group stages – with the £2 million wide man following left-back Borna Barisic to Ibrox.

Aarons, then, is stuck at Newcastle. And, just to make matters worse, he has now been left out of the Tynesider’s 25-man Premier League squad, meaning he is stuck in the reserves until the new year.
This represents quite the fall from grace for a player who was seen as one of English football’s hottest prospects just a few seasons ago.
A teenage Aarons exploded on to the scene in 2014/15 with his dynamic dribbling and impressive vision, capping a dazzling display against Manchester City in the League Cup with a goal in a 2-0 away win.
Thanks to a series of injuries, however, he has made just eight league appearances for Newcastle in the last two years and spent time on loan at Hellas Verona last season. Rangers represented a chance to get this once exciting career back on track.
