Newcastle defender Jamie Sterry recently made his Coventry City debut after following in the footsteps of his fellow Tyneside graduate.

Prodigious forward Armstrong (below) netted 20 goals in League One last season after leaving the Magpies in search of regular first-team football, with 20-year-old Sterry following in his footsteps in the current campaign.
And the right-back, who made his Coventry debut in a 2-0 defeat to Fleetwood Town last week, told the Newcastle Chronicle that he believed the time was right to seek a temporary switch away from the Championship favourites.
“It’s a big change from Newcastle but I felt a loan move was needed at this point in my career,” said Sterry.
“It’s a great set-up here and the players have been really welcoming so it was the correct decision for me to come here.
“The team try to play in the correct way and that is in line with how I want to progress as a footballer – the next step is to win some games.”
Sterry will be hoping regular minutes in League One can convince Rafa Benitez (below) that he is worthy of a place in his first-team plans as Newcastle aim to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
The youngster should also return to St James’ with new strings to his bow, with Coventry using him in an unfamiliar wing-back role last weekend.
Armstrong, however, is yet to reap the rewards of his stunning season in League One, playing only 27 minutes of first-team football under Benitez so far this campaign.
