Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues appears to be on his way to the Premier League with West Ham and Newcastle United reportedly interested.

Third time lucky for Newcastle United?
In each of the last two transfer windows, the Magpies have tried and failed to lure Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues to St James’ Park. Turkish Football stated that Newcastle bid £6 million last summer and, back in January, they allegedly raised their offer to £7 million for the Cape Verde international.

Galatasaray refused. But, after a brilliant individual season in the Turkish Super Lig, Rodrigues seems likely to be at the top of Newcastle’s shopping list once again.
Interestingly, these reports come shortly after owner Mike Ashley promised to back Rafa Benitez in the transfer market. Paying £20 million for Rodrigues would surely suggest that the age of austerity at St James’ Park is over.

Newcastle have scouted Rodrigues on numerous occasions in the last few months. He has nine goals and ten assists this season, his recent match-winning displays meaning Gala appear to have all but sewn up the Super Lig title. They are three points clear with a game to go and boast a far superior goal difference to second placed Istanbul BB.
Turkish Football claimed in March that West Ham had offered £10 million to sign Rodrigues ahead of the summer, so it will be interesting to see whether they are willing to double their bid and rival Newcastle for the 27-year-old.
