If Everton’s Sandro Ramirez joined Newcastle on loan, would it suit all parties?

Sandro Ramirez has struggled since swapping La Liga for the Premier League, but a short-term move from Everton to Newcastle United could save him.

With Sandro Ramirez quickly becoming the Premier League’s forgotten man, it is easy to overlook the fact that he was one of the most in-demand players in Europe just a few months ago.

Everton had to beat off competition from the likes of Tottenham, Liverpool, Southampton and Atletico Madrid to land the Malaga striker, triggering his £5.1 million release clause to secure what looked like a superb bargain signing.

It is fair to say life at Goodison Park has not panned out how Sandro would have expected however. The 22-year-old has made just eight Premier League appearance, with his only goal in all competitions coming in the 5-1 home defeat to Atalanta in Europe.

And with the arrivals of Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott at Goodison Park, the Spanish Under-21 international’s hopes of a regular place in Everton’s starting XI now look more unlikely than ever.

So a loan move to Newcastle United for the second half of the season should be seen as an intriguing possibility.

According to the Daily Mail (live transfer blog, 2.05pm), the Magpies are willing to pay £2 million, and cover all of Sandro’s £100,000-a-week wages, to bring him to Tyneside for the next few months.

And this deal could be perfect for all parties. Newcastle need a striker after all and, with Mike Ashley reluctant to invest, a short-term loan deal for a player with a point to prove could be crucial to their survival hopes.

It is worth remembering that, for all Sandro’s struggles in England, he did score 14 La Liga goals for Malaga in 2016/17.

And the report adds that Everton boss Sam Allardyce has faith that the former Barcelona youngster can make the grade in England. If he succeeds at Newcastle, a second chance with the Toffees could be on the cards.
