Newcastle United have been linked with Ze Luis since January 2018 but could he finally move to the Premier League next year?

Newcastle United sent scouts to watch Porto thrash Vitoria Setubal on Saturday with Steve Bruce’s struggling side seemingly planning for the January transfer window already, as reported by A Bola.
The pressure was already on for Bruce even before the 2019/20 campaign got underway. And, with two defeats out of two against Arsenal and Norwich City, it is fair to say that Rafa Benitez’s successor is not sitting comfortably in the St James’ Park hot seat.
Yet Newcastle fans should at least take some comfort in suggestions that the Magpies are already looking at players who could add some much-needed depth and quality to an undermanned squad in the New Year.
A Bola claims that Newcastle sent scouts to the picturesque Estadio do Dragao as Porto thumped four past a dishevelled Vitoria Setubal. There is one player who stood out a mile and it is a name Newcastle fans will know well.

Back in January 2018, Russian publication Championnat claimed that Newcastle wanted to sign Ze Luis from CSKA Moscow. The Brazilian, however, was allegedly reluctant to leave the capital.
As recently as April, TEAMtalk claimed that Ze Luis was back on Newcastle’s radar before they turned to fellow Samba star Joelinton. With Newcastle’s scouts in attendance, his clinical hat-trick on Saturday should not have gone unnoticed.
Perhaps there is another chapter or two in this rather bizarre transfer saga.
