Premier League outfit Newcastle United had reportedly agreed to sign Anderlecht’s Isaac Kiese Thelin but now he’s heading to the Bundesliga with Leverkusen

Rafa Benitez is clearly far from impressed by the lack of transfer activity at Newcastle United this summer. And it goes without saying that the fans, who have experienced more false dawns and broken promises than most, are sharing their manager’s frustration.
So it will not go down well at all if Newcastle miss out on Isaac Kiese Thelin, just five days after having a bid accepted for the Anderlecht striker.
HLN reported on Thursday that The Magpies were closing in on a deal to sign the Swedish international, who scored an impressive 19 goals in all competitions during a loan spell at Waasland Beveren last season. It was reported that Newcastle had agreed to pay £4.4 million.
But it seems that another of Benitez’s targets is about to slip through the club’s grasp.

German outfit Bayer Leverkusen have snapped up Thelin instead, landing the 6ft 2in frontman on loan with an option to buy for £5 million according to The Guardian.
And though he was hardly the most eye-catching or ambitious of transfer targets, missing out is just another reason for Benitez and the fans to feel infuriated.
