Newcastle United have once again been linked with Real Sociedad’s La Liga goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli.

Newcastle United and Real Sociedad could get very well acquainted this summer.
The Magpies have been heavily linked with Argentine stopper Rulli for some time; the 26-year-old blossoming into one of the Spanish top flight’s most eye-catching goalkeepers thanks to his cat-like reflexes and composure on the ball.

And it is understood that Newcastle are still keen on signing Rulli, despite recently triggering a permanent deal for Martin Dubravka while boasting Rob Elliot, Karl Darlow and Freddie Woodman in reserve.
It remains to be seen, however, whether Rulli and Merino will swap clubs this summer. Rulli is on loan at Sociedad from Manchester City as part of a very complex agreement, and it has been reported that the Premier League champions have until June 30 to exercise their £12 million buy-back clause.

Merino is highly rated at St. James’ Park but wants some assurances over his role, having started just one Premier League game since the turn of the year. Sociedad are rivalling Basque neighbours Athletic Bilbao for his signature.
