Newcastle United are reportedly keen to sign Benfica’s Primeira Liga champion Vlachodimos.

Newcastle United are interested in signing Benfica’s title-winning goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, according to O Jogo.
A two-time Greek international who was born in Germany, Vlachodimos joined Benfica last summer from Panathinaikos and it’s fair to say he enjoyed a dream debut season at the Estadio da Luz.
The 25-year-old kept 15 clean sheets as The Eagles wrestled the Primeira Liga title back form rivals Porto while making 50 appearances in all competitions.
And reports in Portugal are suggesting that Benfica are already facing a challenge hanging onto their best goalkeeper since a certain Ederson Moraes with Newcastle and Roma both interested in taking Vlachodimos away from Lisbon.

The report claimed that Newcastle want to sign him on loan with an option to buy. And Benfica are likely to demand a substantial fee for a player they only signed a year ago.
Newcastle are not the only Premier League club Vlachodimos has been linked with recently with Record stating that Manchester United have identified the shot-stopper as a potential successor for David de Gea.
Benfica could already have a replacement lined up with Jasper Cillessen expected to arrive from Barcelona.
