Manchester United and Arsenal reportedly want Marcos Llorente, one year after Newcastle United allegedly failed to sign him.

Newcastle United had their chance to sign Marcos Llorente – and promptly missed it.
According to AS a year ago, the Magpies were at the front of the queue to sign a player who made his Real Madrid debut under a certain Rafa Benitez in 2015.
A Spanish under-21 international who has been compared to Barcelona great Sergio Busquetts for his excellent reading of the game and impressive passing range, Llorente could have been one of Newcastle’s most inspired additions in recent seasons.
But, one year on, he could be on his way to another Premier League club with the 24-year-old now well out of Newcastle’s grasp.
According to Marca, Manchester United and Arsenal have both made proposals to sign Llorente this summer with Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane expected to cash in on a player who has featured just twice since the Frenchman returned to the dugout.

Don’t expect Newcastle to renew their interest however. Llorente has enhanced his reputation despite a difficult season for everyone at the Santiago Bernabau, impressing when called upon while scoring in the 4-1 Club World Cup final win over Al Ain in December.
With all due respect to Benitez’s side, it seems he is now ready for bigger things.
