Newcastle United goalkeeper Matz Sels is reportedly on the radar of Anderlecht in the summer transfer window.

Matz Sels has struggled to make an impact at Newcastle United since his move from Gent in the summer of 2016 for a transfer fee reported by The Chronicle to be worth £6.5 million.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper did not settle in the team during the 2016-17 campaign and spent the 2016-17 season on loan at Anderlecht.

The Magpies have reportedly been trying to offload the Belgian goalkeeper for good in the summer transfer window, but it seems that they are asking too much.

According to The Chronicle, Newcastle want £3m as transfer fee for Sels, who had reportedly agreed a long-term contract with Anderlecht.

The publication has quoted the Belgian club’s managing director Luc Devore as saying that the “financial picture” for the transfer of Sels was “too big”.
With Anderlecht (reportedly) pulling out of a deal for Sels, it will be interesting to see what Newcastle now do.

Maybe the Premier League club have to lower their demands and exceptions on how much they can get for the 26-year-old.
From the Magpies’ perspective, accepting £3m for a player they signed two years ago for £6.5m would not make sense, but at the same time, one has to ask whether Newcastle over-paid for Sels in the first place.
