Gedson Fernandes has been linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers after shining in Portugal for Benfica.

Not for the first time, and certainly not for the last, Wolverhampton Wanderers have been linked with a big-money swoop for one of the rising stars of Portuguese football.
This is a club who gave Helder Costa, Ivan Cavaleiro, Ruben Vinagre, Diogo Jota and Ruben Neves their chance in England after all. So it is no surprise that Gedson Fernandes, a 20-year-old enforcer starring in Benfica’s midfield, is a target.
That is according to A Bola, who claim that Wolves could make the Sao Tome-born starlet their new record signing. Benfica are reportedly demanding £35 million, a hefty fee for a youngster but far less than his £102 million release clause.

With 18 Primeira Liga appearances to his name this season and two caps for the Portuguese international team on his CV too, Gedson is a player who is really making a name for himself despite his tender age.
A box-to-box, all-round midfielder blessed with the ability to dribble, pass and tackle, Gedson showcased his qualities as Portugal’s U20s beat England 1-0 on Tuesday night. And Gedson was the difference-maker, winning possession back with a tigerish challenge before setting up the only goal of the game.
Have Wolves found another diamond in the rough? The only problem is, however, A Bola believes he could replace the coveted Neves at Molineux.
