Wayne Hennessey looked solid between the sticks despite Crystal Palace’s 2-0 Premier League defeat at home to Liverpool at Selhurst Park.

Could Crystal Palace consider themselves unfortunate to have gone down 2-0 at home to Liverpool on Monday night? Possibly.

Roy Hodgson’s side caused plenty of problems for their much-vaunted visitors in the second half with Wilfried Zaha in particular stepping up his game. But, thanks in part to the excellent Alisson Becker and the solid defensive partnership of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez, Liverpool held on for a win that seems to only reinforce their title credentials.

There were, however, a few positives to take for the Crystal Palace faithful. Aaron Wan-Bissaka was, again, outstanding before his unfortunate red card in the latter stages while Luka Milovojevic, James Tomkins and Andros Townsend performed impressively at times.

Though the Selhurst Park crowd appear to have a new favourite right now – the long-serving goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey.

The Welsh international has had his fair share of critics since he arrived at Palace in the summer of 2014 with his penchant for crucial errors leading many to argue that an upgrade was needed between the sticks.

But Hennessey has started this campaign looking like a man reborn and followed an impressive display at Fulham with another solid performance against Jurgen Klopp’s rampant Reds. The 31-year-old is quickly changing opinions on the terraces.
