Gboly Ariyibi is Nottingham Forest’s forgotten man, but will he ever get a game in the Championship under Aitor Karanka?

Nottingham Forest have made some head-scratching signings in recent transfer windows, and Gboly Ariyibi is up there with the strangest of them all.
The USA Under-21 international moved to Nottingham Forest for £500,000 in the winter of 2017. But 19 months, no games and two loan spells later, he has been linked with a move to non-league.
According to the Nottingham Post, former club Chesterfield want to re-sign Ariyibi. The 24-year-old left the Proact when they were in League One but, after a couple of dreadful seasons, the Spireites are now 17th in the National League.

Their non-league status means they can sign Ariyibi outside of the transfer window.
According to the Derbyshire Times, the former Leeds United youngster has rejected a return to the Proact in favour of staying at Nottingham Forest. However, with very little chance of game time between now and January, that decision seems rather counter-productive.
All in all, Ariyibi’s move to the City Ground feels like a waste of time. He has never played a game for Forest and does not look likely to any time soon, with a whole host of new players arriving since Aitor Karanka took over at the start of 2018.

Think we can honestly say this lad was a waste of money, probably have to pay him off.
