Neil Warnock has been particularly outspoken about Wolverhampton Wanderers, and will be hoping Cardiff City can beat them in Friday’s Premier League game

Neil Warnock is hardly the most popular man at Molineux.

The Cardiff City manager has been particularly outspoken about Wolverhampton Wanderers’ rapid rise over the last 12 months, aiming a couple of jibes at the Black Country side’s links with well-connected super-agent Jorge Mendes.

And who could forget Warnock’s post-game rant following Cardiff’s dramatic 1-0 defeat to Wolves in April, calling opposition manager Nuno Espirito Santo a ‘total disgrace’ for his raucous, yet wholly understandable, celebrations after The Bluebirds missed two late penalties (Sky Sports).

Cardiff and Wolves are set to renew hostilities on Friday and Warnock, who turns 70 on Saturday, is already rallying his troops ahead of what is likely to be a feisty encounter.

“We’ve got a tasty game next weekend, Wolves at home, thankfully on the Friday night so I can have a nice birthday on the Saturday,” the experienced manager told the Birmingham Mail.

“We’ll have a full house again, you’ll not stop our lot from turning up. And I know they (Wolves) have spent a lot of money but I’m sure we can give them a good game.”

A defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium really doesn’t bare thinking about for a Wolves side who were both outfought and out-thought at home to Huddersfield Town on Sunday, where a double from Aaron Mooy earning The Terriers a deserved 2-0 win at Molineux.

Nuno’s side have now lost four of their last five Premier League games but are still 11th in the Premier League table. Cardiff, meanwhile, are stuck in the bottom three after a 1-0 defeat to Everton on Saturday.
