Zach Clough struggled to make an impression as Championship giants Nottingham Forest drew 3-3 with QPR at Under 23 level on Monday.

Two of Nottingham Forest’s out of favour attackers started for the U23s against QPR on Monday. But while Jamie Ward performed with verve and dynamism, seizing his chance to impress with both hands, it’s fair to say Zach Clough’s performance was far less positive.
The last year and a half have represented a rather dramatic fall from grace for Clough, who was tipped to shine when he arrived at the City Ground from Bolton for £3 million in January 2017.

The 23-year-old hasn’t played a second of Championship football so far this season under Aitor Karanka. The Scottish Sun is reporting that Forest are now ready to send Clough on out loan with both Aberdeen and Hibernian interested.
But if the 5ft 5ins pocket-rocket wanted to force his way back into Karanka’s first-team plans, he needed to perform better than he did against QPR.
Clough was hauled off at the break after an ineffective 45 minutes with Forest two goals down at home to QPR’s youngsters. And it doesn’t reflect well on the diminutive attacker that his side were far better after the break, earning a 3-3 draw.
And it seems that, for some disgruntled Forest fans, this is the last straw.
