Paudie O’Connor was controversially loaned out by Championship high-flyers Leeds United this summer, joining League One Blackpool.

The 2018/19 season could hardly have started much better for everyone connected with Leeds United.
Sunday afternoon’s 3-1 thrashing of Stoke City pretty much confirmed what people had been predicting; that this Marcelo Bielsa chap is rather decent at the management game.
In the Argentine’s first competitive game in charge, Leeds ripped apart a star-studded Stoke side (well, by Championship standards at least) with the likes of Samu Saiz, Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper already looking like completely new players.

Although the weekend was also a very positive one ifor a player who left Elland Road on loan before the season kicked off.
Some Leeds fans were far from happy when Paudie O’Connor was sent to Blackpool at the end of an impressive breakthough season in West Yorkshire but the signs already suggest that he could benefit from regular first-team football.
The 21-year-old Irishman was arguably the best player on the pitch as Blackpool were held to a goalless opening day draw with Wycombe Wanderers, throwing himself into challengers and dealing excellently with the rather unique threat posed by Adebayo ‘Beast Mode’ Akinfenwa.

And Leeds fans will be hoping this is the first of many excellent displays from a player they’ve got high hopes for.
