Erik Sviatchenko left Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in January – but then won the Danish Superliga with FC Mitdjylland.

Erik Sviatchenko was shoved out the door by Brendan Rodgers in January but at least he didn’t miss out on a title parade after all.
While Celtic were celebrating a historic double treble by beating Motherwell 2-0 in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday afternoon, FC Mitdjylland won the Danish league title for only the second time in their history with a 1-0 win against Horsens on Monday.
No wonder Sviatchenko is delighted.

The 26-year-old returned to his homeland on loan in January after failing to make a single league appearance in the first half of 2017/18 under Rodgers but shone in Midtjylland’s historic triumph.
He started nine times overall, starring as the club won their last three games of a thrilling season while keeping three successive clean sheets.
And, in quotes reported by the Daily Record, it seems Sviatchenko has no idea where his destiny lies; “I honestly don’t know about my future. It’s hard to answer if I want to stay with Midtjylland or go back to Celtic.”

But with Jozo Simunovic and Dedryck Boyata a shadow of their 2016/17 peak during the final few months of last season, not to mention Jack Hendry and Marvin Compper struggling since their January arrivals, it seems Celtic fans would welcome Sviatchenko back with open arms.
