Premier League outfit Everton reportedly want a dynamic central midfielder like Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele – does Napoli ace Allan fit the bill?

Everton have joined the race for arguably the most in-demand young midfielder in European football – Lyon star Tanguy Ndombele.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Toffees have sent chief scout Martyn Glover to watch the 21-year-old France international, who is valued at £40 million after an outstanding 2018 for Bruno Genesio’s Ligue 1 side.

But with Ndombele attracting interest from bigger clubs than Everton, including Juventus and Barcelona according to Calciomercato, perhaps they shouldn’t put all their eggs into one basket.

Now, the Liverpool Echo reports that head coach Marco Silva and director of football Marcel Brands are in agreement that Everton need a combative, all-action central midfielder, potentially to act as a future partner for Andre Gomes.

But Ndombele is not the only player of this ilk on the market. According to CalcioNapoli 24, Tottenham Hotspur have set aside £35 million to sign Napoli’s Brazilian enforcer Allan in January and the former Udinese man is another who would fit the bill for Silva and Brands.

Like Ndombele, Allan is a real modern-day all-rounder with an extensive skill-set. A regular starter under Maurizio Sarri and now Carlo Ancelotti, the Samba star has the pace, power and direct approach that Everton appear to be looking for.

And while the 27-year-old Allan might not possess the same world class potential as Ndombele, he might be a more realistic and cost effective target.
